- Speed Limits: Expect speed limits of 50 km/h (31 mph) in cities, 90 km/h (56 mph) on open roads, and up to 130 km/h (80 mph) on motorways.
- Winter Driving: If you rent a car between November and March, you may experience snowy or icy roads. Make sure your vehicle is outfitted with winter tires or snow chains.
- Right of Way: Always give way to buses and trolleys/trams. Tramways are marked with a red-bordered triangular sign with a trolley inside.
- Flashing Headlights: Hungarians will flash their headlights to signal you have the right of way, and they want you to go.
