Please refer to the booking page for further rental information. For driver’s licenses from countries not listed in the Vienna convention, you will require an official translation of the document in Russian/Uzbek. An International Driving Permit must also accompany driver’s licenses in a non-Roman alphabet.

Age Restrictions

The minimum age to rent a car in Uzbekistan is 25.

Refueling

In Uzbekistan, your vehicle will be provided with a full tank of fuel. Please fully refuel your vehicle before returning to avoid incurring fees. Alternatively, you can purchase a tank of fuel at a competitive rate when you pick up your vehicle, although no refund will be given for unused fuel.

Driving Tips

A drive through Uzbekistan takes you some of the key historic parts of the Silk Road, although you should watch for potholes along the way. Though the roads in larger cities and major connections are good, there are many stretches with damage. You also should be aware if you are planning to travel over long distances that fuel can be scarce. Police checkpoints and stops are very common throughout the country and the enforcement of road rules is strict.

Here are some more tips for driving in Uzbekistan:

  • The driver entering the roundabout has the right of way, meaning if you are already on the roundabout you will have to stop to let them through. This is the opposite of the European driving rule.
  • Be aware of animals on the road.
  • You must not drive under the influence of alcohol or other substances.
  • Crossing an unbroken white line is an offense.

General speed limits in Uzbekistan

  • You are permitted to drive 100 km/h (62 mph) on intercity routes.
  • In urban areas, the speed limit is generally 50 km/h (31 mph).

Crossing Borders

Cross-border travel with your rental car in Uzbekistan is not allowed.

As with most of the other reviews Hikmat is exceptional! Perfect English, great disposition, helpful and honest. The car was fine no issues, but Hikmat was the man that made it 5 stars. We blew a tire up north and I had Hikmat on the phone with the mechanic sorting it all out for us. Can't praise him high enough. Oh and yeah the car was as expected and no issues.
