No matter what part of France you’re in, you can find SIXT branches at major airports and in downtown areas. As soon as you pick up your rental car in France, your adventure can begin. Be sure to familiarize yourself with some local rules before hitting the road:
-Honking your horn: You can only use your horn if there is immediate danger. After dark, you must flash your lights instead of honking the horn.
-Intersections: At all intersections, unless there are signs that say otherwise, priority is given to traffic approaching from the right.
-Local road users: French drivers are generally calm and collected, making for an easy driving experience. You will also be sharing the road with cyclists, mopeds, and trams, so stay alert and aware.
-Low Emission Zone: If you’re driving in Paris, you should be aware of the Low Emission Zones, which will cost money to drive through.
With our tips for driving a car rental in France, your trip will be easy and comfortable.
-From wine and cheese to upscale fashion and world-class art, prepare to discover everything this country has to offer with a rental car in France. If you’re flying into Paris, you can discover the capital city at your own pace and take a day trip in your rental car to nearby Versailles.
-You could also head north to Dunkirk for some war history and drive across the border into Belgium. Those wanting to visit the mountains can explore Lyon or even drive across the Swiss border to Geneva for the day.
-The southern coast of France also has a lot to offer. The beaches of Marseille and Nice are well worth visiting, and you can also check out the lavender fields of the Provence region. If you’re a film buff, a visit to Cannes is also in order. Regardless of where you decide to go in France, SIXT has you covered.
